When we adopt a new diet, we tend to fill our fridges with all kinds of healthy foods, thinking that if we indulge in them, we will become healthier. But did you know that any food, even a healthy one, can adversely affect you if you overeat it?

In this article we will present five healthy foods that many of us tend to overeat and that could hurt us if we do not start serving them in moderation. Read on and remember!

1. Cereals

You probably already know that it is good to avoid sugary cereals and opt for whole grains. However, due to the high number of calories,  even these “healthy” cereals can be harmful if you eat them too often or in very large quantities.

If you are used to indulging in certain cereals, find out that you are probably already far exceeding your daily calorie needs.

Here’s what we advise: at a single meal, never serve more than a quarter cup of granola, a cup of cereal flakes and two cups of expanded rice.

2. Oily fruits

We all know that oily fruits are a very healthy food. They contain beneficial fats and are very filling.

Unfortunately, when it comes to dried fruit, it is very easy to overdo it, especially if we serve them in large containers.

To avoid excess, we recommend that you do not eat more than a handful of dried fruit a day.

3. Olive oil

A salad seasoned with a little olive oil is really healthy. Green vegetables are very nutritious and olive oil contains monounsaturated fats, which are good for heart health.

But do not forget: a tablespoon of olive oil contains about 100 calories, so it is not good to consume this product in excess.

The recommended daily dose of olive oil is 1-2 tablespoons, which is enough to fill a glass of brandy.

4. Humus

In case you didn’t know, hummus (also called chickpea puree) is a very healthy snack  that is worth adding to your diet.

Humus contains beneficial proteins and fats, which can be combined at any time with fresh vegetables. But this product is often sold in large containers. Thus, many of us tend to consume it in larger quantities than would be necessary.

The recommended dose is a maximum of two tablespoons of humus a day!

5. Freshly squeezed orange juice

Thanks to all the benefits they provide us, fruits are really healthy foods. However, the juices obtained by squeezing them contain more sugar than fiber.

You have a lot more to gain if, for example, you opt for a whole orange instead of a glass of orange juice.

In addition, you have to admit that it is a bit harder to eat a whole orange than to drink a glass of juice, so you will be less likely to overdo the fruit itself, as is the case with juice.

If you still can’t help it, find out that the recommended daily dose of orange juice is 250 ml.
