Citroën C5 Aircross
The Citroën C5 Aircross is the latest bet of the French brand within the fashionable automotive segment in the old continent. Presented at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, its debut on European territory is scheduled for the last quarter of 2018.
This model comes to compete against cars that have become really strong in a market that does not stop growing: that of the ‘SUV’. It has to make space between the Nissan Qashqai and the Peugeot 3008. It has in common with the latter the modular platform EMP 2, developed by the PSA group.
Exterior design
The Citroën C5 Aircross is a compact SUV of significant dimensions. Its 4.5 m long place it ahead of rivals such as the Hyundai Tucson (4.47 m) or the Peugeot 3008 (4.4 m).
At the front, this model offers a powerful large front, complemented by the already characteristic double headlights of cars with inverted Vs. At the rear, two huge oval-shaped LED lights that perfectly match the exhaust system.
Its tires, which can be topped with 17- to 19-inch alloy wheels, raise the body 230mm off the ground. This complements its already imposing image, with greater security and strength.
Interior design
Modular space, this is a good concept to define the interior of the Citroën C5 Aircross . Five seats with enough space for its occupants to travel in total comfort. In the rear row, three benches of identical measures, which guarantee that it is a car for five passengers and not a ‘4 + 1’ model.
A 580-liter trunk is used for bulky luggage; It is accessed through a vertical gate with an electric motor . With all the rear seats folded down, the boot capacity reaches 720 liters.

The interior of the new C5 raises the level of internal soundproofing one notch. For this, the designers have chosen to use laminated glass in the side windows ; for its part, the air conditioning equipment has an active carbon filter.

The Aircross offers two Pure Tech petrol engines, as well as three Blue HDi diesel versions, with outputs ranging between 130 and 180 hp. The transmission can be either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. (This last option only available with diesel engines).
Suspension: a superlative feature
One of the most outstanding assets in the Citroën C5 Aircross, is its suspension of hydraulic progressive dampers. This system comes to market after decades of developments in rally cars, now appearing inside a commercial vehicle for personal use.
Price
Pending official confirmation, the starting price is expected to be around € 25,000, although we will have to wait to know the exact figure. Estimates are made by competing models in the Aircross market.
