McLaren Senna GTR, The Ultimate Weapon For The Circuits

The McLaren Senna GTR is the track-focused version of the new McLaren Senna. It is a revision of a concept that seemed impossible to improve. If in the case of the Senna one speaks of the most extreme sports car made in Woking, the GTR is directly a racing car, suitable only for the circuit.

It is currently unrivaled in the market, although with a similar approach is the Aston Martin Vulcan, somewhat more docile given its lower power and aerodynamics. It will not be available until 2019, when each of the 75 units to be manufactured reach customers at an as-yet unknown price.

Radical aerodynamics

Aesthetically, the McLaren Senna GTR is distinguished by a much more aggressive aerodynamic configuration, in which a huge front splitter stands out that is maintained throughout the side. The rear is now characterized by a generously dimensioned competition-derived diffuser and a large moving spoiler .

Different ventilation intakes have also been introduced for the correct cooling of the engine group, and smooth tires signed by Pirelli. To accommodate wider wheels, the wheel arches have been revised and widened.

The cabin has not transcended in the official images, but it is to be expected a greater use of carbon fiber and the elimination of the few elements focused on comfort and entertainment that were left in the already spartan interior of the McLaren Senna. It is a racing car and only the essentials have room.

Benefits

Starting from the base of the 4.0-liter V8 engine released by the McLaren 720S and suitably evolved for the conventional McLaren Senna, the McLaren Senna GTR increases its power up to 825 hp. The engine torque remains at 800 Nm, the same as the seven-speed double-clutch transmission.

Among the most important novelties are a lowered suspension with a specific setting focused on track use. In addition, the radical aerodynamic update that the model has undergone increases the downforce that can generate up to 1 000 kg at maximum speed.

The 200 kg extra that it generates compared to the street car is generated mainly by the new rear wing and the huge front splitter. The Senna GTR is so capable that McLaren claims its performance is second only to Formula 1 cars.

Arrival on the market in 2019

The McLaren Senna GTR has been presented in Geneva with the Concept label , although the firm itself has confirmed that the final product will hardly vary from the model already seen, to say nothing. They have only limited themselves to saying that there will be a limited edition of 75 units that will be delivered throughout 2019.

Regarding the price of each one of them and the availability of these there is no information about it; this will be offered throughout the year.  It should be remembered that the 500 units of the McLaren Senna started at 850,000 euros and that all were sold at the time of its presentation.
