The new overwhelms us, and the electric cars that are present on the market are still a novelty  that makes us ask ourselves many questions. Since we are aware that these cars are the future, many cannot help but wonder if there will be differences between driving an electric car and a traditional one.

Many may think that driving is driving, and what does it matter if it is an electric car or not, but the truth is that there are, and we are going to comment on them.

Greater acceleration

Electric cars drive like an automatic, as they do not have a clutch or gearbox and from zero revolutions the propeller offers maximum torque.

Although not all are advantages, because that power that it has when starting and leaving is the same that it lacks when walking on the road. Thus,  smoothness should be the protagonist of your driving, especially in the first few meters.

The brake

Electric cars come with an energy recovery system that kicks in when the accelerator is released. Thus, decelerating is a new form of braking that significantly reduces speed. In a conventional car, this gesture would be like stepping on the brake smoothly, but in an electric car it is a gradual but fast braking system.

The silence

If something characterizes electric cars, it is that they are less noisy than conventional ones, something that is noticeable both outside and inside the car. This can be an advantage when having a conversation inside the cabin, but a disadvantage when driving in the city that can cause pedestrians to cross without noticing that you are coming because of how quiet your new car is.

Heating

Electric cars do not yet have the range to make very long trips, so controlling all aspects of driving is important to preserve the range as much as possible.

So that the heating or air conditioning does not ‘suck’ too much energy, it is best not to exceed 22 degrees Celsius. Another good recommendation is to use automatic connection systems so that the car is at the right temperature and only needs to use energy to maintain it.

You need more planning

Because electric cars run on electricity and the national refueling infrastructure is not yet extensive, planning before traveling is essential to avoid travel mishaps.

The cars with more autonomy are around 600 kilometers. The most recommended thing is that you calculate how many kilometers you will do on your trip, how many charging points there are during the journey and the time you will need to stop to recharge.

Although electric cars are the future and have some advantages, unfortunately there is still a lot to improve so that, more and more, we choose them as our first car. 

The differences between driving an electric car and a traditional one are several, some of which are very important. It seems that today’s models will steal a lot of energy from thinking about how to make the most of their autonomy so as not to get stranded on the road other than allowing us to enjoy a clean and quiet drive.

Even with everything, if you choose one of these cars you will be betting on insurance, because you will have a practical and efficient car with which to circulate through the city or on the road. The bad thing will be that, later, the new models are much better, which seems a reality that will make the previous ones obsolete.
