Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid

With the renewal and improvements that came with the second generation in 2017, the car left already impressive performance ratings far behind, even the E-Hybrid S Turbo version outperforms many traditional sports cars.

A Porsche must be luxurious and powerful. Also, regardless of your style and body style, it must be a sports car too. The Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid is all of the above and much more. Staying true to what the brand stands for, it adds a theoretically impossible combination: low fuel consumption and impressive performance.

When the first plug-in version of the Panamiur hit the market in 2013, it became the first model of its kind in the luxury car segment.

Exterior design

There are no major differences between the ‘standard’ Panamera and the hybrid model. At first glance, it maintains the image of a very stylish saloon, with the muscle and strength that a Porsche must necessarily present.

Beyond the E-Hybrid identification, the only thing different are the brake calipers that are visible through 18 or 21 ″ wheels, depending on the finish. These pieces display with ‘pride’ a very shimmering phosphorescent green hue, impossible to disguise.

Interior design

Thanks to a first-rate technological section, the second-generation Panamera is, in addition to the most powerful sports saloon among all those available on the market, one of the most luxurious. The analog tachometer continues to crown the center of the instrument panel, along with digital displays on either side.

In the middle of the center console the 12.3 ″ touch screen remains. Gadget by which all the functions of the vehicle and its systems are programmed. Naturally, it includes additional specific software with everything related to the electric motor and batteries.

With no changes to the body, the space available for four adult passengers remains extremely generous. The only drawback appears in the capacity of its trunk.

Due to the arrangement of the batteries just below this area, the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid loses almost 100 liters of space, leaving 405 liters. (The fossil combustion models have an exact 500 liters).

Mechanics

The great difference of the hybrid version with respect to its ‘brothers’, is in the motorization. It uses an electric drive that alone offers a power of 136 hp. A 3.0 V6 engine with 330 hp works in parallel. Together, both machines combine to provide the vehicle with 460 horsepower.

These features give this Panamera the ability to travel, provided that certain considerations are met, more than 900 kilometers, without the need to stop to refuel or power.

During start-up, the electric motor runs by default ‘ . It offers a range of 50 kilometers, with a maximum speed of 140 kilometers per hour. If this mark is exceeded, as if it happens that the driver depresses the accelerator pedal fully, the heat engine will automatically go into action.

All of the above is complemented by systems that facilitate extremely agile driving, regardless of road conditions. The adaptive air suspension with electronic control stands out. The active stabilizers also stand out, responsible for minimizing the swinging that in curves or drastic turns can affect the bodywork.

Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid S-Turbo: faster

The turbo model combines the basic electronic drive with a 550 hp UV8 petrol engine. As a result, a power that makes more than a ‘classic’ sports car pale with envy: 680 Horsepower.

The 0 to 100 does it in 3.4 seconds. A brand that not only improves the 5.5 seconds of the Panamera and the ‘standard’ E-Hybrid. They also place it on par with the 911 GT3 as one of the most powerful models of the German automaker.

A car like few others

Porsche is a brand that is not within the reach of all pockets. This is evident with the € 110,890 base price of the Panamera E-Hybrid. It is even clearer with the S-Turbo plug-in, an option that exceeds the € 200,000 barrier.

There are models like the Mercedes S, 500E or the BMW 740e iPerformance that can compete in terms of luxuries and prices. But none capable of offering the power of the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid; It is by far  the fastest hybrid saloon on the market.
