Design

With the hand of M Motorsport in the aesthetic plane, the body has been widened by 8 centimeters to accommodate the new axles extracted from the BMW M4 and larger wheels.

For its part, the front bumper now exhibits a very aggressive look due to the large cooling vents. In addition to hitting the nose of the car to the ground at high speed, they redirect the air towards the radiator and the brakes for proper cooling.

On the side you can see a new heel and a small air outlet in the wing that serves to relieve the pressure in the wheel arch. On the other hand, the rear is dominated by a concealed lip- type spoiler in the trunk and a diffuser that includes two double exhaust outlets.

Cabin

The interior at first glance looks almost the same as any Series 2. However, the M2 adds several elements that, whether practical or aesthetic, provide a slight racing touch that is so highly valued in a car of this type.

In terms of aesthetics, the different identifying logos and decorative appliques are included, which here can be simulated carbon fiber, while in the practical improvements we find a new sports steering wheel and semi-bucket seats that add extra lateral grip.

Explosive engine

Mechanically, the BMW M2 has only one option at its disposal. It is the same in-line six-cylinder engine supported by the two turbos that equip the BMW M3 and M4, with the difference that it now specifies a power of 370 horsepower, less than in the cases mentioned.

This engine can be associated with a six-speed manual transmission – long  live the purism – or a 7-speed DKG automatic transmission. In both cases the power is transmitted to the rear wheels.

After the launch of the car, the brand confirmed that this version was in development, but it seems that it will never finally see the light. Instead, BMW will launch the  M2 CSL  which, in addition to recovering this mythical name, will undergo an increase in power at the same time as a notable reduction in weight.

Price

For 65,300 euros you can get the BMW M2 of your dreams, and this sports car will surely be an investment in a few years. It has not been on the market for a long time, but it is already the dream car of many and with good reason, and it is that this small sports car brings with it the real spirit of BMW M, the one that has been lost over the years.

If you also intend to use it to run in batches on the track, we recommend equipping you with high-performance carbo-ceramic brakes, an expensive but effective option. If this is not your case or you will simply visit the pita casually, with the factory brakes you do not need more.
