On the occasion of the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Bugatti has presented the first version with which they expand their current limited range. It calls itself the Bugatti Chiron Sport.

In this edition it changes just and necessary to offer better performance on the track. The most notable novelty is the reduction in weight, while the power remains intact.

Rumors said that the one presented was going to be the SuperSport version of the Bugatti Chiron, the most hardcore version of it. However, with this new Sport version they have achieved the perfect intermediate product between the conventional model and the future SS.

Minimal cosmetic changes

Outwardly the new Bugatti Chiron Sport has not received significant changes. The highlight is the design of the new alloy wheels, which are lighter to reduce unsprung mass. In turn, the rear view highlights the output of the new exhaust system.

Inspired by the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo prototype, it now features a quadruple circular exhaust outlet, replacing the previous double trapezoidal outlet.

Without having the possibility of knowing more data, the firm ensures that this version has a larger customization catalog available, so that no two will be alike.

The same thing happens in the cabin. You could talk about changes seeing the model presented, but they are only part of the optional customization equipment. In any case, the unit presented shows an intense black leather in contrast to the carbon fiber and the red stitching, to match the exterior.

Benefits

Mechanically the engine of this very special Chiron has not undergone changes as expected. His W16 8.0 Quad-Turbo maintains the same 1,500 hp as always.

If the exhaust system has been modified, with a final composed of four round tails instead of two trapezoids. Still, the car’s performance has improved remarkably.

The improvement is due to the weight reduction –18 kilograms– thanks to lighter, stabilizing rims that are also lower in weight and the use of carbon fiber in elements as unique as the windshield wipers.

All these changes are joined by a stiffer suspension (10%), a more direct steering and a vector control on the rear axle.
