Arrived in 2017, the Ferrari GTC4Lusso is the natural replacement for the practical FF. We have before us the largest model of the Italian brand, with no less than 4.92 meters long. Therefore, it will be the direct rival of the Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide or even the Bentley Continental GT.

Ferrari wanted to follow this line with the previous FF, but at no time did they want to introduce access prices to their vehicles. Something that the Germans did. Now, with this GTC4Lusso he intends to improve his sales, offering a whole Ferrari but with four seats and a good trunk.

Design

The Ferrari GTC4Lusso is the model that is the furthest from the Ferrari style. Despite having an aesthetics of a grand touring rather than a supercar, let’s not fool ourselves, this is a full-fledged sports car.

The front is 100% Ferrari, very reminiscent of other models of the brand such as the new Ferrari Portofino. With a large hood and sharp spotlights that mount on the front wheel arches.

The side and rear views are the most remarkable of the model. It has a larger cabin, necessary to accommodate four passengers, which barely falls from the roof until it reaches the rear of the car.

It is there, where it falls very vertically, more typical of a compact vehicle than a sports car. Even so, the rear, with the four circular optics, is clearly Ferrari.

This Ferrari GTC4Lusso is longer, wider and lower than the FF it replaces. It has also improved the battle of the car, which would improve its habitability. Even so, we do not have exact figures of how much it has increased compared to its predecessor.

Inside

Without a doubt, this section is the reason why the Ferrari GTC4Lusso is so different from the rest of the Italian brand’s models. It has four seats, and although the rear ones are not very spacious and access is through the front doors, they are quite usable.

The dashboard is very similar to that of the new 488 GTB. Mount a 10.2-inch multifunction screen located slightly low. The instrument panel, like the rest of the brand’s models, has a large-format rev counter and two displays on each side.

The steering wheel, although newly designed, is very reminiscent of those already used in previous models, with the driving mode selector, engine on and off button, etc.

It is a spacious model in the front seats, with a feeling similar to that of a conventional passenger car but with a first-rate build quality. The quality and solidity of all the components make you breathe luxury on all four sides.

Dynamic

The main novelty with respect to the FF is that the four wheels are directives. This should improve slow cornering, and will increase stability on wide roads.

It uses the same electronic systems as the FF, but improved. These are: the electronic limited slip rear differential (E-diff), the side slip control system (SSC4) and the variable hardness shocks (SCM-E).

Engines

Available with two engines to choose from, this Ferrari is the only current one that is available with a V8 and a V12. Both versions mount a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

  • 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine with 611 hp: with 760 Nm, it is the same block used by the new 488 GTB. It achieves a top speed of 320 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds, always with rear wheel drive.
  • 6.2-liter V12 engine with 690 CV atmospheric: with four-wheel drive, the Ferrari GTC4Lusso manages to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 335 km / h.

Whichever you choose will be a good choice, but the feel of a V12 in a chassis with these capabilities is delightful. Especially for the ears.

Prices

With the 3.9-liter engine it starts at € 260,073, a not inconsiderable amount, and goes up to € 300,726 in the V12.

They are prices higher than what costs a Porsche Panamera with 549 hp. It is true that it is less power, but the 3.8 seconds it takes to go from 0 to 100 km / h for the German are not ruled out.

In addition, it has rear doors. The Aston Martin Rapide has four seats and a 558 hp V12 engine, which is around € 230,000. With its lower price, it also gives considerably worse performance than our protagonist.

conclusion

At first, the Porsche Panamera may seem like a better option, but is it so? In reality, this one does not have the level of exclusivity or the sports driving systems that our protagonist carries.

The image counts a lot when it comes to acquiring a vehicle of these characteristics. This is precisely where the Ferrari GTC4Lusso is unrivaled.
