Lotus Evora GT430 And GT430 Sport: Maximum Exponent

We analyze the two most aggressive versions of the Lotus Evora, the GT430 and GT430 Sport, with improved performance in order to compete head-to-head with the rest of the sports cars in the segment
Lotus Evora GT430 and GT430 Sport: maximum exponent

The British firm does not stop in search of the limit of its Evora. They are sure that their chassis can give much more, so they have released an even more radical variant: the Lotus Evora GT430. And to make matters worse, to this exceptional version they have added another with a further twist, for which the surname Sport has been used.

Until a few years ago, Lotus was known for making incredibly effective cars on the track, with a spartan interior and just the right power-to-weight ratio to make the driver enjoy every turn. All of this continues to be true with the Exige and Elise, but with the new versions of the Evora, he is stepping into dangerous terrain.

The level of technology and comfort of the latest versions of the 400 range are comparable to those offered by sports cars such as the Porsche 911 or an Aston Martin Vantage.

With this Lotus Evora GT430 you can enjoy a few runs on the track like with an Exige, but you can drive home with an astonishing level of comfort for a sports car with the word Lotus on the steering wheel.

Design

The aesthetic differences between the Lotus Evora GT430 and Sport lie in the amount of visible carbon fiber parts that have been added to the Sport model, so you can tell them apart with the naked eye. Thanks to this series of parts, it has managed to reduce the total weight of the car by 10 kilograms compared to the GT430.

The parts affected are in the lower area of the spoiler or the grille that covers the engine. For the rest, the car is practically the same in terms of image, and it sports that silhouette of a racing car glued to the ground that characterizes the model.

You can tell that the car’s shapes have been molded in the wind tunnel, with a very raised rear to improve the support of the rear end in fast corners and a sharp and aerodynamic nose. The whole car is full of sporty details and achieves a much more aggressive image than that of the Evora 400.

Moto and dynamics

Both share motorization, a 3.5-liter V6 block that, animated by a volumetric compressor, develops 430 HP of power. In the case of the Sport, the figure rises to 435 hp. Not bad at all for a car as small and light as this Brit.

With it, the Lotus Evora GT430 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 305 km / h, figures of a true sports car.

With the slight improvements that the GT430 Sport enjoys , such as the improvement in power and the reduction in weight, the performance improves significantly: it goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds and reaches 315 km / h of maximum speed. Those scarce 1,248 kilograms of weight are noticeable, a lot.

They are very good numbers for their power level, a Jaguar F-Type with 551 hp needs 4.1 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km / h and its maximum speed is ‘only’ 300 km / h. One more proof of the good work of the English firm.

The cornering has also been improved, the reactions with respect to the Evora 400 are much faster and more direct, with faster support changes thanks to the improvement in the suspension system.

For the driver to better control the car’s reactions, some fantastic Sparco leather and alcantara seats have been added to provide race car level grip.

Price

The Lotus GT430 Sport starts at a hefty € 136,000, € 3,000 more expensive than a 551hp Jaguar F-Type. But the level of exclusivity between the two is very different; of the Lotus only 60 units will be manufactured, with what that means in the second-hand market.

The Sport series will be a collector’s car among the most purist of the British brand, the kind that revalue over the years and are in the news when it appears in a world auction.

For the difference in price between an Evora 400 and this model, and seeing the depreciation of both, the Lotus Evora GT430 Sport is a magnificent buy.
