Renault Captur

The Captur is renewed, offering a current image without changing the winning concept.
Renault Captur

The elegance of an urban SUV, with all the versatility of a family car. This is the Renault Captur, the successful bet of the French house. It is close to serving five years on the market and with almost a million units sold throughout Europe.

Design built from the famous Clio, but with more interior space, as well as higher body and suspensions. However, it is much more than just a bigger car.

Exterior design

The latest revision of the Renault Captur offers, generally speaking, only cosmetic changes. Its managers, thanks to the positive performance of the model in the markets, applied a sports premise. It is based on the winning lineup not being changed.

On the exterior of the car, the renovation focuses on the lights. At the front, new headlights – which can be full LED – accompanied by a grille topped with a silver strip. While the bumper now offers an appearance very much in the style of the new Renault Scénic.

At the rear, slight tweaks to the design of the brake lights (also available in full LED) and the bumper.

Renault Captur: maximum customization

Wide customization possibilities. This has been one of the characteristics most appreciated by the public, when deciding in favor of a Renault Captur. Options include 14 exterior color combinations.  In addition, in the last renovation, Ocean Blue and Atacama Orange were added to the color catalog.

Inside there are six possible combinations available, which in addition to the selection of shades cover the roof finishes.

Safety: new added values

There are more important novelties within the new range of this vehicle  manufactured exclusively in Valladolid. For example, there is the possibility of having a blind spot arrest system. It works at speeds of between 30 to 140 km / h.

The device warns drivers of the presence of other nearby vehicles. Especially in areas that escape detection with the naked eye through the rear view mirrors. It also has an automatic parking system, which remains operational when the speed is less than 30 kilometers per hour.

Connectivity options

Thanks to the powerful solutions of the Renault R-Link, the possibilities in this section are equally important.

It has a central 7 ”touch screen, which can be configured to act through voice recognition. Additionally, it can be synchronized with a Smartphone, connect to the internet and install the TomTom Go GPS navigator. It is compatible with Android Car and with a significant number of other applications available for download from the R-Link Store.

To set the driving experience musically, it has the essential USB and Jack ports. It also has the ability to link external devices wirelessly via Bluetooth signal.

Most of its users celebrate that the control of the air conditioning is done through more traditional systems and not through the screen. Simple works often better.

A compact car with a lot of space

The latest update maintains the boot with a 377-liter capacity and double bottom. Also the possibility of advancing the rear seats 16 cm, to increase the space for luggage and loads up to 455 liters.

Engines

It has four engine options, all operating by fossil combustion: two with gasoline and the remaining torque with diesel.

From the first group, a 3-cylinder model called TCe with 90 hp, with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The other is a quadruple displacement called TCe of 120 CV. It comes with a 6-speed box and, as an option, a sequential automatic model.

As for diesel, a model with a 90 hp engine and a 5-speed manual or sequential gearbox. The remaining is 110 hp, also with the option of manual or automatic changes.

It reaches 100 kilometers per hour in 13.1 seconds, being able to develop a maximum speed of 171 km / h.

Its gasoline consumption is, on average, quite low: 3.7 liters per 100.

A popular car

The price / quality ratio, in addition to the low energy consumption, make the Renault Captur a popular model in its segment. We will find it from € 17,500.

Its off-road appearance causes some of its users to crave the possibility of four-wheel drive. But the objective of this model is not in the realm of all-terrain models. It is an urban vehicle and motorway tourism. Versatile on asphalt.
