The Taxi War Against Uber And Cabify

The confrontation between public service drivers and private companies has led to strikes in large cities
The taxi war against Uber and Cabify

When the Uber and Cabify cars arrived, we breathed into the thought that we could pay less for a taxi service, but we forgot about a group that would be, and in fact have been, terribly affected by this new addition. It seems to have taken time, but the taxi war against Uber and Cabify has already begun.

The welcome of the new government: the taxi war against Uber and Cabify

If Pedro Sánchez wanted to enter the Government, perhaps he has realized that he has done it at a bad time. The taxi war against Uber and Cabify has exploded in his hands, and it seems that he is having difficulty managing a problem that seems to have nowhere to take it.

The taxi group had filed lawsuits against the VTC and it seemed that they were going to achieve something, but when it was confirmed in Catalonia that there would be no restrictions against vehicles with these licenses, war broke out.

A VTC is the license that Uber and Cabify vehicles have and that allows them to offer their taxi-like services legally. Although taxis knew that it was impossible to withdraw all licenses, it was expected that in Barcelona their number would be reduced from 1,035 to 400, but this did not happen either.

Differences between taxi and Cabify

What are the differences between Uber and Cabify and taxis

There are many reasons why riders choose Uber and Cabify over a taxi. The first is the price. The rates of these private companies have no competition with those offered by taxis, which sometimes reach twice the amount.

Many might think: “Let taxis lower prices and that’s it.” The problem is that taxi rates are set by the authorities and that, according to them, they are the ones that allow paying the required taxes.

Another reason why many prefer private companies is direct contact with the driver. When you want a taxi, you call a switchboard and they send it to you wherever you can tell them 10 minutes, half an hour or more. The time promised in the switchboard seldom coincides with the real one.

However, with Uber and Cabify, you order your car with an app, they tell you where your driver is, how long it will take to arrive and you choose where to pick you up. The driver will contact you in a call to let you know that he is coming and in case a problem has arisen that causes him to be late. This is a very big point in your favor.

Differences between Uber and taxi

Private VTC licensed companies base user satisfaction on customer service, so drivers are obliged to talk to the user whenever they want and, of course, to be very polite.

As an advantage to mention with private transport companies, is that we do not have to handle cards or cash in the car, since everything is paid through the app. There have been robberies in taxis, and even charges of rates at prices higher than those agreed. Users avoid all this by running through the Cabify and Uber apps.

So, although the taxi war against Uber and Cabify is intended to be a full-fledged legal battle, the biggest changes must come from within, that is, from those who have the problem: taxis.

Will it be possible to reach a consensus in which everyone is happy? We will have to wait to see how many battles of the taxi war against Uber and Cabify each win. Time will tell…
